For a technical issue, include your macOS version, SmoothTake version, capture type, and a description of what happened. Please do not send passwords, private recordings, or other sensitive information. Share screenshots or diagnostic files only if you are comfortable with their contents.
Getting Started & Permissions
Choose a display, window, or region, then start recording. Stop the recording to open the editor, make adjustments, and use Export to save an MP4. Editable drafts save locally and are available in Recent recordings.
Screen recording access is required for capture. Microphone access is optional. Input Monitoring enables editable cursor capture and interaction-based automatic zooms. You can review these permissions in System Settings → Privacy & Security; relaunch the app if macOS asks you to.
Automatic captions require macOS 26 or later, a supported Mac and language, and a language-model download. Manual captions are also available. Review generated text before sharing a video.
