Obscura: Dark Codex Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Obscura: Dark Codex collects, uses, processes, stores, and shares information when you use the mobile app, codex systems, generated artwork features, and related backend services.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect information you provide directly, including codex prompts, invocation text, saved fragments, preserved relics, world progress, support messages, and other content created through the app.
We may also receive information through Apple, including your Sign in with Apple identifier, your Apple-provided email address if Apple shares it, and subscription or purchase information related to in-app purchases.
During use of the app, Obscura may create or process saved world state, codex history, generated asset metadata, and operational data needed to provide the service.
2. How We Use Information
We use information we collect to:
- authenticate users and restore account sessions;
- save codex fragments, relics, and world progression;
- generate scene artwork and relic card artwork on request;
- process or restore subscription access through Apple;
- maintain service quality, security, and support operations; and
- respond to support requests or service-related questions.
3. Where Information Is Stored
Obscura uses a local-first architecture for portions of user world state, codex history, saved relics, and visual preferences. Certain app data may remain stored on your device.
When you request generated scene art or relic card art, relevant prompt content and metadata may be transmitted to backend services we operate in order to fulfill your request.
Generated assets and related metadata may be stored on backend infrastructure to support caching, restoration, and continuity of the user experience.
4. Third-Party Services and Vendors
We may use third-party service providers to operate the app, including:
- Apple, for Sign in with Apple and subscription billing;
- OpenAI, for image generation and related AI workflows;
- infrastructure or hosting providers we use to run backend APIs, asset storage, and related product services.
These providers process information only as needed to support Obscura. Obscura does not sell your personal information.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share information with service providers that help us operate Obscura, when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business transfer such as a merger or asset sale.
6. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the service, support users, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
Locally stored content may remain on your device until you delete it or remove the app. Server-side records, generated assets, and operational logs may remain for a limited period.
